Reading Update
Well, my reading venture is going slow, but steady. I finally finished Lord Foul’s Bane today. I read it when I was in 8th-9th grade and remember enjoying it much more than I did this time around — but it was still a worthwhile read. Donaldson spent too much time in the hero ( or anti-hero, really )’s head, exploring the toil and torment of being an impotentent leper. I tend to like to see more character development displaying in actions rather than thoughts. I also seem to recall that this trilogy grabs you more and more as you get into it, so it’s quite likely I’ll get back to rereading the remaining installments before too long.
Next up: More Harry Potter. I’ve other priorities, but it’s driving my wife and friends nuts that they can’t talk about book 3 and 4 in front of me — so I better catch up. I’ve also got a copy of R. Buckminster Fuller’s Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth sitting on my shelf awaiting my attention, so we’ll see.

I’m in the middle of Lord Foul’s Bane now as well, so I’ll look forward to exchanging notes with you in a bit. Covenant seems painted very sympathetically until his encounter with Lena, after which I’m having a hard time rooting for him. The story’s still quite engaging, though, and I’ve put all 3 volumes of the first Trilogy on my Christmas list.
I’m working my way through Harry Potter as well. I listened to the 3rd book in the car, and have a copy of the 1st and 4th waiting for my attentions as well. Bucky’s always interesting — I’ll look forward to hearing about the Operating Manual.
Congrats on your reading progress!
