Go Terps!

My Maryland boys got revenge against Duke last night.
Far be it from me to tell one of the best coaches in the game what to do, but I think Coach K.’s short bench strategy is really starting to hurt Duke…they looked tired and just plain unable to adjust to Carlos Boozer going out. [...]

Johnny Staats project

I’ve been listening to the Johnny Staats Project a lot the past few weeks. If you like mandolin, this is a must listen. If you like Bluegrass it’s a must listen. If you like incredible musicianship, it’s a must listen. If you like Madonna, it’s…ok, you might not like it.
Staats has [...]

Who wants to shoot the telephone?

I decided last week it was time to try to get on Who wants to be a Millionaire?. I don’t even watch the show much, but I’ve seen enough to know that I’d do okay — and, heck, they fly you to New York, which is good enough to make it worth while.
So, I [...]

UNo MAS in Conversant

After picking away at the content conversion and redesign for quite a while, I’ve finally flipped the switch, and the e-zine I do with my friend “Jim Saah” is finally running in “Conversant”.
The zine is UNo MAS Magazine…and has been around since 1990, when Jim and I started it as a print zine. I [...]

Those darn Dukeys.

I don’t mention sports much here…but I am a big college basketball fan. It’s really the only sport I think I can say I’m a true “fan” of…although I generally like and enjoy watching many others.
I’m pretty upset about Duke retiring Shane Battier’s jersey tonight. Not for the obvious reasons. Shane [...]

them complex genes

Stephen Jay Gould submitted an interesting op-ed in the New York Times this week, regarding the mapping of the human genome.
Gould’s writing always brings a great level of humanity to science, which I do enjoy. As usual, he illustrates that nothing is a simple as it seems.

New Conversant features

Macrobyte’s rolled out some new Conversant features this week. Nice CMS tools for website building, including macros to generate site/folder outlines, next/prev page links, etc. ( Yes, it’s mostly my code in this set of updates. )

Got my Tahoe

For those who didn’t understand the cryptic code from the other day…I bought one of these:

Just took delivery today at lunch. It’s really nice. I’ve never owned a new car.

Sweet ride…

Getting back into LandCruiser stuff while I’m working on selling mine, I found this. Sweet. I wouldn’t want it for my daily driver, but it is sweet.

Hopeful directions

Some are speculating that Bush could be considering taking a non-traditional stance on Drug policy, in light of some changes among the Republican ranks at the state level. I certain hope that’s true.
Ok, I harp on this a bit, but I truly believe the Drug War is far more destructive than drugs would ever [...]

Imitation and Flattery

I can hardly complain, since Userland’s push for RSS rendering got me started on doing an RSSBox macro for Conversant — but I do think this is kinda funny.
Gee, do you think they looked at the docs on my implementation? Those parameters sound pretty familiar.
I can hear the sounds of “Doh, I shoulda thought [...]
