Go-Live

Wish me luck. We’re finally pulling the switch to our new ERP solution, Axapta, at my main gig this weekend. I’ve got a lot of work invested in this, now it’s time to let the users screw it all up.
For me, the data conversion this weekend is the real chore…but it [...]

More new Conversant features

Lots of cool new stuff in Conversant lately…including the XML-RPC Interfaces and conditional macros ( if/elseif/endif blocks ).

OS X

I just installed Mac OS X on my Powerbook. Very slick. The Aqua interface is a bit sluggish even on this 400 mHz machine, but I’m sure they’ll be hacks to turn off some of the detailing and speed it up soon.
So far so good though. This is a nicely done OS.

RadioConversant and other news

The first release of RadioConversant is out. RadioConversant is a tool for Radio Userland to interact with a Conversant conversation/zone via XML-RPC

It’s real simple right now, but does a few convenient and fun things — like allowing me to write this weblog entry in an outliner…and edit my site templates. When I get [...]

Final Four, Baby!!!!

Maryland makes the Final Four, for the first time ever…beating Stanford, who was ranked number one most of the year.
(Potential trouble spot — if Kt’s Duke boys win their game, starting in minutes, it’ll be Duke vs. Maryland in the Final Four…we may have to watch in different rooms )

B-Ball

Well, my boys made it to the Elite Eight, finally. The Terps have had a history of tourney disappointments, so it’s nice to move on. I just wish CBS had shown me more of the game…they seemed to think we were some how more interested in the USC-Kentucky game, even when USC was [...]

Shake and bake art!

We have a sand pendulum, but it’s never done this.

Spring

Well, spring has official arrived. Often that doesn’t necessarily mean it seems like Spring — but it sure does today in North Texas. It’s beautiful and warm and sunny, and the wildflowers are starting to bloom early this year.
I love Spring!

How did I get here?

Potlatch

This is an interesting proposal for a micropayment system in the post-Napster age. Wrought with potential implementation difficulties, but on the right track.

Grounds for divorce

Luckily, I’ll never need them…but at least “Kt” continues to provide me with grounds for divorce.

The strange combination of tastes

I think I’ve pointed to this before…but I think it’s worth revisiting. When one of your favorite artists has done a series of drawings of some of your favorite musicians, it’s a rare treat worth savoring.
So, if you have the time, take a look at R. Crumb’s portraits of the great bluesmakers.

Email news

I don’t exactly advertise this, but you can get my site via email (http://greg.turtleprod.com/263 ). “Conversant” has a great email interface to support this.
Now, I can also post to my news page via email. Just like I’m doing right now! Cool.
The funny thing is that Seth had this feature almost done nearly [...]
