New reviews at UNo MAS
It’s been a bit slow over at UNo MAS, but we’ve finally got a couple new reviews up — Alejandro Escovedo’s latest, and Little Pink, a D.C. supergroup of sorts.
Jim promises me a new feature and some more reviews are on the way, too.

A baby story
This is not going to be news to a lot of people who read this site — but it’s finally time to make the public announcement.
Katie’s pregnant!
This is our first venture into parenthood, but we’re doing it in style, jumping right in with twins. Yep, that’s right, count ‘em — two babies
I won’t [...]

The new guitar
I am now the proud owner of a Taylor 414 acoustic guitar.
I’ve played a lot of instruments recently, and decided this was the best fit for me. Action’s smooth as silk, and I really couldn’t find a player review that had negative things to say about Taylors — they are widely considered to be [...]

eBay saga
As I mentioned last month, I put a guitar and amp up for sale on eBay.
A month later, I think these transactions are finally concluded — but it has left me wary of using eBay as a seller in future.
The amp went for $190. Not great, not bad. I spent $80 [...]

Supreme court rulings
The supreme court made two rulings today regarding medicinal use of marijuana.
Interestingly, I agree with one of them. The court ruled 8-0 that a Federal law prohibiting the medical use/distribution of marijuana is legal. I agree. I wholehearted disagree with the law, but do think it’s an inherently legislative matter and should [...]

Marriage…
One of my best buds growing up ( friends since 5th grade ) has announced he’s getting married this Fall. Congrats to Tim and Tricia!
They’re actually getting married Oct. 27th…which will be one day before Katie and my 6th anniversary (and also happens to be my Mom’s birthday). I wish we could go, [...]

10-key calculator for Windows?
Anyone ever run into any software that emulates a 10-key calculator for Windows?
I had a great little desk accessory for Mac that did this, it shipped with an add-on numeric keypad I got for my PowerBook. Far superior to a simple calculator, as it kept a scrolling history in front of you, and responded [...]

Undying
I’ve slowed down my already somewhat unreliable weblogging of late…this is due to a number of reasons, including: Spring, work, and especially Clive Barker’s Undying.
What a great game! I’ve always been a sucker for a good 1st person shooter, but I’ve felt rather orphaned by the high profile offerings of late. Multi-player/Death Match [...]

Programming quote of the day
I just finished reading an article in the XML Journal on manipulating XML via DOM. This quote cracked me up:
Note that, within the PrintNodes() function, I’m calling the same function again. This is a key characteristic of a recursive function.
Hmm…Isn’t it _the_ key characteristic? Isn’t it the definition of a recursive function?
