Church signage

I enjoying reading the rotating words of wisdom on the signs in front of a number of churches in our neighborhood. One, frankly, because the it rarely seems to make sense. The message itself is usually straightforward, but the statement is convoluted. At any rate, the pastors at two local churches seem to be on the same page this week — but the results seem a bit harsh to me:

Church 1: “God forgives us for our sins, but the memories still hurt. If in doubt, don’t.”

Church 2: “A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.”

Perhaps realistic, but those aren’t exactly going to draw me to out to their services.

“I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
    (Matthew 9:13)

You don’t go to “church” because of a clear conscience or to feel good.
Actually, that’s not true, that is why most people go, but doing that has
nothing to do with the Bible.
