I’m an uncle.

Now that the announcements have gone out, I think I’m officially allowed to post here that I’m now an uncle! My sister, Laurie, and her partner ( Lori, yes…Laurie & Lori — it’s very confusing ) are now the foster parents of a beautiful 1 year-old girl, Shaila. Here’s a pic.

I’m very excited [...]

The ‘Rents

Just got through with a nice weekend visit from my parents. Pretty laid back, but it was a treat to spend some time together. Hopefully their trip home today will be uneventful.

RE: Poor happyman

Happyman is all fixed up now. He was still a bit groggy yesterday afternoon from being put under, but the trimmed claw doesn’t seem to be bugging him any. Don’t like it when our dog’s not well…I’m sure I’ll like it even less when the twins come along and have problems.

Poor happyman

Our dog Happyman is up at the vet. The poor boy cracked one of his dew claws this weekend, way up to the base of the nail. They tried a local at the vet, but it wasn’t enough to numb the pain, so they have to put him under and cut it off. [...]

Rolling Stone drug forum

Rolling Stone has gathered some interesting comments on the drug war. I haven’t read them all, but they seem reiterate what I hear more and more everyday. People are finally accepting that the war on drugs is a failure, and strategy needs to change dramatically. Let’s hope Washington eventually listens.

File sharing blockouts?

It’s really sad to see ISP’s caving to pressure from big companies and blocking traffic that might or might not be illegal.

It’s premptive censorship, and is a sure road to serious disruption of the Internet’s ability to function as an valuable medium. Is the phone company responsible for blocking my calls if I’m using [...]

RE: New ‘puter

It shipped! Good thing, too…as this one needs some serious maintenance, that I don’t really want to do.

Week 22

Today marks the beginning of week 22 of Kt’s pregancy. We saw the OB today, everything’s dandy. Kt might have other things to say about her feet swelling and leg numbness, but the babies and mom are doing nicely.

Babies are starting to get active, too. I’ve felt and seen them kick now, [...]

Short Circuit 2

Short Circuit 2 is possibly one of the lamest comedy movies ever made. Or, at least that’s my impression from the few minutes of it I’ve been able to tolerate…and, in general, reviews around the world seem to agree with my opinion.

The first Short Circuit movie was actually a cute comedy, but it’s sequel [...]

RE: Dave got busted.

Just to follow up on my friend Dave’s arrest, he was ultimately cleared and charges dropped…he even got his gun back this week. He’ll still be out lawyer’s fees to get his arrest expunged from his record, however.

It turned out the gun he was carrying had been stolen from the gun dealer by a [...]

Shrek

Saw a bargain matinee of Shrek yesterday. I enjoyed it, but wasn’t overwhelmed. The graphics were stunning, but not necessarily very emotive. I still think computer animation has some hurdles to overcome. The Pixar films do a better job of integrating an artistic vision into the animation, I think…but, none-the-less, Shrek [...]
