Happyman’s Eye
Our dog Happyman has been battling what we though we’re eye infections in his left eye most of the summer. We’ve treated him with steriod drops, and it’s cleared up, only to come back shortly thereafter.
We went out to the Veteranary Opthamologist this afternoon, and found that Happyman seems to have Pannus, a degenerative eye problem common in German Shepards ( Happy’s a shepard mix ). It’s likely we’ll have to continue to treat him with drops the rest of his life to keep it under control — if not, it could slowly allow scar tissue to take over his cornea and hurt his vision, or even blind him.
Poor guy. At least it doesn’t cause him any discomfort, and I’m glad to know it should be controllable — but I’d certainly prefer he didn’t have it at all.
