Mac OS X 10.1 & the Apple Store

Just got back from my first visit to the new Apple store in North Dallas. Went to get my free copy of the 10.1 update, which they were handing out in limited supply this morning. Got there at right around 10am when the store opened…to find about 500-600 people there!

Glad to see so many Mac faithful out…especially for OS X, which I didn’t think all that many had installed yet. Talked in line to two guys from American Airlines’ corporate office — they actually all run on Macs, over 500, and all are running OS X. I was quite surprised to find that out…pretty cool.

The store itself is very nice, but sparce. A good showcase for the hardware, some minimal accessory selection, and a good core software set — mostly games and education related.

The 10.1 update is installing on the TiBook now…more comment on that a little later.
