Twins updates

Kt posted some updates on yesterday’s activities on the babies page. Lots of appointments…everything looking good though. U/S approximated their weights at 5 lbs. 2 oz. and 5 lbs. 5 oz. Twin B flipped over, and is now in breech position, but that could always change before delivery.

Interesting iTunes tip on OS X

I’ve been letting top, the unix system tool, run on my iMac at work, trying to see if there’s anything I can do to make it perform a bit better. It’s got 288 meg and it’s a 266 MHz G3, but it’s a bit slug-like under OS X 10.1.
One thing I did notice — [...]

This cartoon couldn’t be much more harsh…but it is funny.

Ars Technica OS X 10.1 review

An excellent review of OS X 10.1 at Ars Technica…with their typical level of detail and insight.
Coolest thing that I learned from this? OS X has support for keyboard access to menus and other UI widgets!!! This has been something I’ve always missed on the Mac. Sometimes it’s just quicker [...]

Like molasses in winter

Man, they had to go make my brand new TiBook seem slow already. I wish they would declare a moratorium on technological advances for at least 6 months after I buy something like that.

Babies, week 34

Today marks the beginning of week 34 of the pregnancy. This is a crucial landmark in our minds. Had the babies come any sooner, we would have ended up shipped off to Dallas or Ft. Worth to one of the big hospitals with NICU facilities…now, we’re far enough along that the hospitals here [...]

Dang Dogs.

I love our dogs…but they’re wearing us out this year ( and getting very expensive ). We seem to be making a trip to the vet every week. Since the beginning of the summer, the toll is:
Happyman: recurrent genetic eye problem ( at least 6 visits ), shots-vaccines, broken dew claw, staph infection.
Maxie: [...]

Brent’s Dictionary of Received Ideas

I enjoy Inessential.com…Brent’s always got thoughtful things to say…but this page is just plain hilarious.

Downgrade to Windows XP

Brian Livingston is right on the nose….

What all these new XP “features” have in common is that they make Windows more convenient for Microsoft but less convenient for users.

My first iMovie

I bought a digital video camera in preparation for the babies arrival — here’s my first iMovie, The Babies Nursery.
It’s very short…don’t get too excited.

New nursery pics

Kt posted some new pictures of the nursery at the babies page. Her mom just finished sewing the bumper pads and crib skirts with fabrics Kt picked out…really nice, thanks, Pat.

Marketing mumbo-jumbo

I just got an invitation to the launch of Window XP…which includes one of the funnier marketing quotes I’ve seen lately:

“A new standard in stability — 13 times more reliable than Windows 98 — makes everyone more productive”

Huh? 13 times? First, how do come up with a number like that. Second, is [...]

Babies, week 33

Another week down…about 4 weeks left, give or take. Hospital bag is packed. Kt is increasingly large and miserable…but she’s a trooper, I’m really proud of her.

Thundercats Erotica

Very odd site of homo-erotic sketches of the Thundercats ( via CamWorld ).
The artists statement is what really cracked me up. I actually sent this guy e-mail, because he mentions wanting to know what the psychological consultant listed in the credits actually did…and strangely enough, I know the psychological consultant. Dr. Robert Kuisis [...]
