Lame recording effort #1
Here’s my first output from my new home studio setup…Blues1. It’s pretty lame, completely unreheased and unplanned, and the levels are bad — but, at least it proves I’ve got a home studio now.

Seth for hire
My former boss and friend, Seth Dillingham, is looking for work. Here’s his resume. Seth’s become a really good friend in the past couple of years, first as one of the coolest bosses and project managers I’ve ever worked for — later just as a kindred spirit in our development efforts on Conversant, [...]

Don’s a funny one.
Don Larson, aka “San Diego Don”, is a weird one. Don used to be a member of this site. Don used to work with me at Macrobyte Resources. Don has a weblog, too.
Don is unhappy that I asked him to stop posting on this site. Don is also unhappy that Jim [...]

msn.espn.go.com
What a strange url. If you try to go to “www.espn.com”, you used you get redirected to “espn.go.com”…because ESPN was part of Disney’s now defunct “Go Network” ( ESPN is owned by ABC, which is owned by Disney — that makes sense ).
But now, appearantly ESPN has joined MSN…so you would think that you [...]

Home repair insanity
Our furnace stopped working on Thanksgiving. We hadn’t needed it much this year, but it was working…and it stopped. On inspection, it was pretty clear that the igniter was not working. The thermostat would click to activate, the furnace would turn on the gas, but the gas wouldn’t light, and then it [...]

Poem of the week
The absence of my breath
by Greg Pierce
The absence of my breath
is sometimes not appearant,
seemingly lost in the fuss and flurry.
But the fact remains,
you have taken it away.

Back to work
My month off is up…and back to work I go.
I wish I could stay home with the family forever, but that’s not real practical…so here I sit, in front of a desk.
I know the next couple of months will be tough on Kt. The babies are great, but they are a lot of work [...]

ACC - Big Ten Challenge
Tuesday night should be the first really great night of college basketball for this season, with two matchups that are part of the ACC - Big Ten Challenge series — which also happen to showcase my favorite team, and Kt’s favorite team.
Maryland (#5) will face Illinios (#2) and Duke (#1) will face Iowa (#8). [...]

Mom & Dad
My mom & dad just left to go back home after a nice week long visit. Keegan & Asher seemed to easily get a passing grade from their grandparents…glad they were able to come down and spend time with them while they’re still so small — and it was nice to have the extra [...]

RIP, Dan’s Bar
Dan’s Bar closed this week. Dan’s was a small place here in Denton that was really the only place in Denton bringing in interesting music on a regular basis. I’m not really surprised to see it go, because I never thought they could have been making any money — but it’s a shame [...]

Go Terps!
I’m really mainly a Maryland basketball fan, not so much into College Football, but I’m still real glad to see the Terps football team clinch the ACC title — if for no other reason than it’s great to see Florida State lose that title for the first time since joining the conference 9 years ago.

Bush declares Thanksgiving, a day of Thanksgiving. Huh?
Presidential decree:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Thursday, November 22, 2001, as a National Day of Thanksgiving.
Ok…Is he going to declare X-mas a national day of gift giving, [...]
