Happy New Year
I hope that everyone finds that when they look back on this year, it was a good one…and as they look forward to the next, they see great things ahead. This year has been very good to me, most obviously because of the birth of Asher and Keegan, but also because of the all [...]

Sleep
I had a hard day at work yesterday…and Kt let me sleep through the night. She, being the provider of food, sort of _has_ to get up with the boys at night, but I usually get up too and help with diapers and such to try to move things along. It was nice to [...]

Beat the Geeks
I’ve been watching Comedy Central’s new game show, Beat the Geeks, for the past two weeks. It’s on in the 6:30pm ( 7:30pm EST ) time slot that used to have Win Ben Stein’s Money…which is one of my favorite shows.
The premise is really funnier than the show, but I’m digging it. The [...]

Target America
It doesn’t take the DEA long to jump on any bandwagon that it thinks will further the misinformation to the benefit of the drug war. Note their recent, thrown together symposium Target America: Traffickers, Terrorists & Your Kids. Some commentary at the DRC. Shameless propagandizing. Argh.

Christmas
Had a really nice first Christmas with Asher & Keegan. They’re a bit young to have a clue what’s going on, but they seemed to enjoy being held and hanging out with Kt’s family. They got a lot of toys they’re still too young for, but they’ll grow into them quick.
Most of my [...]

iMac upgrade movies
I was just trying to explain to my Uncle how to put a memory upgrade in his iMac. He’s had 64 meg I sent him sitting next to the computer for months. He’s a bit worried to do it without experience.
I looked at Apple’s support site…they actually have a movie explaining how to [...]

College savings
I’ve been trying to figure out 529 college savings plans. Man it’s confusing. Choice is a marvelous thing, but sometimes in life I wouldn’t mind having a few less options to weed through.
On the whole, I think it’s a well designed idea — the feds provided a framework for these funds, and the [...]

Essential albums
Brent posted a list of albums that changed his life today. Here’s mine…I might have missed a few, but these are the pretty pivotal ones, in roughly chronological order of my exposure to them…
Flex Your Head - Dischord records compilation ( DC punk )
King Crimson - Discipline
Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland
Elvis Costello - My [...]

Site design…
Seth’s been playing with his site and it kinda got me wanting to make a few improvements around here–so I’ve been playing a bit. Not a major overhaul, just a bit of look-and-feel, color scheme changes. What do you think?

IBM developerWorks
I haven’t stopped by IBM’s developerWorks site in quite a while. I’m impressed. They have a lot of really useful information, particularly Java tutorials and examples, as well as tools for download. I’ll be back there in the coming months, no doubt.
