iMac arrived
Kt’s new iMac arrived today, so I’m told. Can’t wait to get home and check it out. I know I’m going to be jealous of that 800 MHz G4 as soon as I sit down in front of it.

Cable modem
Mom and Dad have a cable modem now. After a year of frustration with DSL that never worked right, they gave up and are trying the cable service…which I don’t think was previously available in their area. Hope this works out better for them. No member of my family should be forced [...]

Grammys speech
The RIAA president just used the grammys show as a platform to tug at our heartstrings and say how illegally downloading music is robbing musicians of their livelihood. It just isn’t true. It’s the distribution chain that’s getting robbed, and they deserve it. They’re charging outrageous prices for CDs, which the artists [...]

Frat night
Man. We went out to eat tonight at Good Eats. It’s a pretty average country-style fern bar, but we had a two-for-one coupon. The babies really wanted to be playing, but we were hungry, and we figured it would be pretty dead on a Monday. Wrong — we appearantly hit the [...]

USA vs. Canada
Jim’s really ecstatic about Canada’s hockey gold. I’m happy for him. I’m happy for Canada…they deserve it.

MD vs. Wake Forest
The Terps survived a close one yesterday. Never a dull moment in the ACC. I was watching the Kansas game late in the day and thought we might actually have a shot at a #1 ranking, but the Jayhawks managed to leave Nebraska with a W. Oh well.
Almost tourney time, I’m [...]

Sarah Hughes == Michelle the Band Geek
Kt and I were watching the evening wrap-up on NBC’s Olympics coverage the other night, and Bob Costas and Jim McKay were interviewing Sarah Hughes, the figure skating gold medalist. We were both struck by exactly the same thing — this girl is Michelle, the band geek, from American Pie!
There’s only a minimal physical [...]

Wolfenstein
I just finished the single-player portion of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Excellent game. It took me a while to get through — hard to find time to play with the babies and all, but it was worth it. If you like 1st person shooters, you’ll love Wolfenstein.

Compliments
Seth said nice things about me on his website. I’m just tickled pink ( OK, only Seth will get that joke ). I should probably say some nice things back, but he’s already got a big enough fan club.

Formz
Just finished putting together the initial release of Formz, a suite of scripts for Frontier and Radio UserLand that I wrote a couple years ago to support a number of area in Conversant. Specifically, Formz is designed to separate the “look and feel” of input forms in HTML from the code that handles building [...]

Tuning OS X
I just implemented some of the performance improvements to OS X suggested at Mac OS X Hints on my Blue & White G3 at work. WOW! Dramatic improvement, particularly from installing a theme that doesn’t use transparency in menus and windows. I like transparency well enough, but I like responsiveness better…menus and [...]

MD vs Clemson
Didn’t get to see the Terps game last night ( wasn’t on TV here ). They had a slow start but came on in the second half to beat Clemson. The win over Duke, immediately followed by the loss of Coach Williams’ Father made the team a bit off, so it’s no surprise [...]

RE: Dang Dogs.
To followup on Happyman’s condition — it seems he doesn’t have Addison’s Disease…which doesn’t surprise me much after reading up about it. I think we need a new local vet, argh.
Happyman spent the day with the vet. dermatologist yesterday. He, and the vet. internist upstairs, believe that Happyman’s problems are due to a [...]
