Festival season

It’s spring festival season here in Texas. Yesterday was Fry Street Fair, Denton’s big college party — which we skipped for the first time in many years. I guess we’ve outgrown it, and it’s not really baby-friendly. Sadly, it’s changed as it’s grown, too. It’s not the big hippie freak show it once was. It’s become more of a huge frat party. Blech.

Today we hit the Fort Worth Main Street Arts Festival. It was an overcast day, but it didn’t rain on us. We mainly went to see Brave Combo, and they were great as usual. We met up with some friends there and enjoyed hanging out. Unfortunately, the double-stroller makes it difficult to navigate the crowd and enjoy many of the booths. The babies were awesome! You never know how well they will take a new environment like this, but they did great. We’ve got really good babies. :-)
Next weekend, it’s the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival which is usually our favorite of the season. It’s held in a park — which means grass, not pavement, under foot and it’s real close which makes it easy to go back several times for the bands we most want to see. This will be another new one for the babies, as I think we’re going to push our luck and keep them out past their bedtime.
