Cold lagered pale ale

I picked up a six-pack of Lawson Creek Pale Ale last night, a new arrival at the local beer store. I really didn’t anticipate it would be good, but I couldn’t resist the label, which advertised this as a “Cold lagered” beer, but it was called a “Pale Ale”. For those not familiar with beer terminology, that’s impossible. Ale and Lager are two different kinds of beer, Lagers being made with bottom-fermenting yeasts and cold temps, and ales being made with top-fermenting yeast — generally at room temp.

Anyway…it was an entirely average lager beer. Just amazing how a stupid label like that could make it to market from a micro-brewery.

This beer is “cold lagered” which refers to how it is stored (at a cold temperature) rather than how it is brewed. An ale can be cold lagered. Maybe you should do a little research before you speak.
