John Carpenter’s music

This month’s Perfect Sound Forever has an analysis of John Carpenter’s film music that had me LOL.

John Carpenter has made some of my favorite movies ( Escape From New York, The Thing ), he’s also made some of the worst movies I’ve ever seen — but the crappy synth music he insists on writing for his own films is generally a low-light. So much so that I find it incredible that someone was so inspired by it that they needed to write such a tribute. Now, the theme in Halloween is effective, I’ll grant you…but, really…it’s no Dimitri Tiomkin or Bernard Herrman.
