RE: Cat in a hot brown truck

Initial impressions of Jaguar? It’s like OS X, only OS X’ier. Little faster and more responsive. iChat looks OK once you turn off the balloons. Having trouble telling the difference between the new anti-aliased font settings. Split terminal windows…Yum. Brushed metal look? Yuck. Make it stop.

Stormy morning

It was a stormy morning here in Texas today…which made it pretty dark. Keegan, Asher and Kt were all still sleeping when I left at 7:40am. I went in to say good-bye to Kt, and noted that appearently if the sun doesn’t come up — then neither do the boys.
Her contribution was…”Let’s get [...]

ASP.NET

I’ve been working on an ASP.NET based site for work for the past month or so. It’s not necessarily my first choice of environments — mostly for political and security reasons — but I have to say from a development point of view, it’s been nice to work with.
MS has really conquered most of [...]

Cow, Fish, Foul or Pig

The new Gourds is weeks away. I’m so excited. More songs to get stuck in my head!

Honesty

Seth and Brian both have interesting things to say about honesty. The words that Seth started with were, “Religious people have, for many years, bemoaned the moral decline of Western Civilization.”
You know, you do hear that all the time…and I think it’s bunk. I don’t think moral standards have ever been particularly high, [...]

Tile

Well, it’s taken us about a year, but we finally picked tile for our kitchen and breakfast nook over the weekend. We had hit the point of utter confusion caused by looking at too many alternatives, so we finally decided to just to go cheap. We went out to a building supply surplus [...]

Unlucky street

Our quite little neighborhood is taking a bad turn lately. I posted about our next door neighbor Lanelle’s death two weeks ago…but I didn’t mention the specifics. She shot herself.
Yesterday, another neighbor two doors up and across the street has done the same. I didn’t know him personally because he’s been very [...]

Ultrasound

I love Dane Carlson’s treatment of this ultrasound pic. Kt did a good job of labelling ours but it’s not quite as self-evident and Dane’s method.

So sleepy

We’re having another sleep deprived week around our house. Both the boys have been fighting a bit of a cold, which gets worse when they lay down at night…and though Keegan typically sleeps through the night well, when he does get up he’s hard to settle back down.

Signs

We went to see Signs on Friday for Kt’s birthday. I was a bit let down. It was well written and had interesting direction…and had some really funny stuff we enjoyed in the first half, but it never really tied together in a satisfactory way — and the end was a real let [...]

Kev Russell’s Junker

Got our copy of Kevin Russell’s solo effort, Buttermilk and Rifles they other day.
It’s not a Gourds record, but it’s a lot of fun, and has some excellent songs. It’s neat to hear Kevin backed up by Mark Rubin of Bad Liver’s fame, on standup bass and tuba.
The highlight of the record, is a [...]
