Kev Russell’s Junker
Got our copy of Kevin Russell’s solo effort, Buttermilk and Rifles they other day.
It’s not a Gourds record, but it’s a lot of fun, and has some excellent songs. It’s neat to hear Kevin backed up by Mark Rubin of Bad Liver’s fame, on standup bass and tuba.
The highlight of the record, is a song Kevin co-wrote with his 3 year old son, Guthrie…”(Somebody Bring Me a Flower) I’m a Robot” ( sample here ). It’s been stuck in Katie and my collective head for days.
