Outage
My DSL provider’s local loop to Verizon went down on Thursday. It’s some screwup with WorldCom and they are now running a new circuit which will take 5-7 days. Thus the outage. My ISP’s status page has details.
I just moved my server up to work and as the DNS changes percolate, we [...]

Me and the boys
It’s just me and the boys this afternoon. Kt’s heading out to Dallas to see a matinee of The Lion King stage show with her Mom, Aunt and Niece.
I think we’re going to go to Toys ‘R Us…not sure though. The weather’s been great, so maybe we’ll just go to the park.

Sid
I’m testing Steve Ivy’s latest updates to Sid…a Mac OS X client app for posting to Conversant weblogs. I usually don’t mind just posting via the browser — but the spell-checking is nice.

Lions in Arkansas
This segment on All Things Considered yesterday had me laughing out loud on the drive home. You don’t hear a hick on NPR all that often…he sounded like a nice, smart hick — but his accent combined with the subject matter was just hilarious. ( Requires RealPlayer )

RE: eMac
Make that a PowerMac G4 867 x 2 ( yes, Dual-Processor ), w/ GeForce 4 card. Found an open box one for not much more than the eMac. Since I already have plenty of monitors around at work, this was too good to pass up.

Colin Aric Brian Carnell
Congrats to Brian on the birth of his son on Saturday. Boy, he makes me glad we had to have a C-section.

eMac
I’m getting a new eMac for work. Yeah! I spend most of my work time on a Windows laptop these days for two reasons, 1) the ERP package I develop for is on Windows and 2) the B&W G3 Mac I have on my desk is pretty long in the tooth and really [...]

RE: Keegan’s arm
Update: Keegan is feeling much better today. In fact, so much so that it was hard to get him to bed because he just wanted to party ( Asher, too, which is pretty incredible since he didn’t nap all day ). Kt took Keegan to the othopedist (SP?) this afternoon. He [...]

Keegan’s arm
Poor Keegan had a tough weekend. Friday night we were out at the park and he and Kt took a fall at the bottom of the slide. Kt took the brunt of the fall, but Keegan did get his arm stretched out and catch it on the ground. We got it X-rayed [...]

Cancer log
I’ve been reading over some of Bryan Buck’s Weblog this morning. Bryan’s going to cancer treatment, and keeping a public journal of his journey. It’s an interesting read.
I’m a cancer survivor, having had stage IIB Hodgkin’s Disease back in 1990 ( actually got the diagnosis the week of my 21st B-day, joy! ). [...]

Don’t talk to me about money!
Or, if you really want to talk to me about money, or casinos, or rape, or the size of your penis, don’t say so in your subject line. I’m getting more aggressive about blocking spam at my mail server. Just can’t take it…way to much.

Warren Zevon
Warren Zevon has terminal lung cancer. Just caught this one today. Zevon’s one of our great modern satirists…and a mighty good songwriter, too. Sadly, more people know him as that guy that fills in for Paul Schaffer on Letterman sometimes…or that “Werewolves of London” guy.

RE: Tile
The tile has been laid. We were hoping to tile Saturday and grout Sunday, but we didn’t get that far. As usual, the prep work took a bit longer than expected — and some of the help we had lined up ditched on us. But thanks to Gran and Pappy’s excellent and [...]

Tile
Wish us luck…we’re installing ceramic tile floor in the kitchen and breakfast nook this weekend. It’ll be a lot of work, but it’s going to be a big relief to have it done since we’ve been living with dirty, bare concrete in the breakfast nook for several months now.
