Cancer log

I’ve been reading over some of Bryan Buck’s Weblog this morning. Bryan’s going to cancer treatment, and keeping a public journal of his journey. It’s an interesting read.

I’m a cancer survivor, having had stage IIB Hodgkin’s Disease back in 1990 ( actually got the diagnosis the week of my 21st B-day, joy! ). Had I had this journal then I’m sure I’d have posted some on it about the treatment. Of course, if I had this journal and wireless Internet access while I was sitting around waiting on doctors at NIH while I went through treatment, I’d probably be having trouble with database bloat on my webserver. ;-)
I don’t spend a lot of time reflecting on my treatment, and the fact that I am a cancer survivor. That speaks volumes about how far medicine has come in the last 20-30 years…it’s not quite such a unique thing to be a cancer survivor anymore. I hope Bryan joins our ranks soon.
