Mac killer

Yep, that’s me. It’s sad, but I’m sending a bunch of iMacs out to pasture at work in favor of Wintel boxes. Part of me hates to do it, but I really can’t avoid it at this point.

As a developer, I can’t implement everything to work on both platforms. As an administrator, I can’t continue to support both platforms efficiently.

I probably could have kept the Macs going if they’d run OS X. Well, technically they run it, but it’s so slow you’d have to be crazy to use it day-in and day-out…these are mostly Rev. A and Rev. B iMacs. Trust me, OS X on ATI Rage Pro video w/ 2 meg VRAM ain’t a pretty sight.

Oh well, life goes on…

    Greg,

Are these being eBay’ed? I might like to grab one and put OS 9 on it to
run the kids’ software if they’re available.

Yes, some of them probably will be…first we’ll do an employee sale,
and what’s left will be up for grabs. I’ll be sure to let you know —
it’ll be a couple of months, however.
