The server that wouldn’t start
Filemaker is clueless in many ways…including the brilliant fact that the Filemaker Pro Server will not automatically start at boot time in the default installation. According to Filemaker, you have to manually start the server!!!! Hello!!!! If I wanted to manually start server software, I’d just setup a cot here at work and never go home so I could monitor it all the time.
There’s a workaround, but that’s just incredible that they’d ship it that way and not explicitly support a method to auto-start the service.

Although Sean tells me that this post caused him to wonder about my
sanity, I think you should sing my song…

Actually, it wasn’t your sanity, it was your musicality.
