RE: The network is live!
Oh, and the DSL is fast. We’re theoretically subscribed to 768k down/128k up, but I ran the speed tests at DSL Reports last night, and was getting about 1100k down/144k up. Whohoo! I had the same service speeds via Verizon at the old house, and never got better than 660-680k down.

The network is live!
Well, I hooked up the new free router, and my switch, and relocated the DSL modem to the homerun box in my closet…and now the new house is fully networked! 11 live 10/100 ports around the house. Activated the TiVO home media option…very cool. Though it will be much cooler when the [...]

Back online
Our DSL is now up and running at the new house. Whohoo! Just connected to the one machine now, I haven’t setup the network yet but that will happen sometime this week.

Toshiba Tivo/DVD
I ordered a Toshiba SD-H400 Tivo-DVD this morning for the new house. Looking forward to the home media option on the Tivo. We’ll be able to play our iTunes libraries and iPhoto albums through it via the network hookup. And program the Tivo to record shows via the Internet. Plus, it’s [...]

Church signs
Man, I needed a laugh this morning…and found one, via Dave. He pointed to the Church Sign Generator, which is funny on it own, but the link from there to these pictures of church signs had me spitting coffee. My favorites are this and this.

Robot cars?
This contest will be fascinating…the entrants’ robot cars will have to complete a grueling course.
The 250-mile course–which won’t be completely revealed until two hours before the start–will require the computerized vehicles to drive through or around sand, mud, boulders, ditches, barbed wire, mountains and at least one overpass where onboard GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation [...]

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
My windows laptop is current on hiatus. I used it at home Friday night, then Saturday morning it was dead. Gets as far as the the XP splash screen then hits a blue screen of death, with the message, “UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME”. Sounds like it may be a corrupt boot sector, and may be [...]
