The network is live!

Well, I hooked up the new free router, and my switch, and relocated the DSL modem to the homerun box in my closet…and now the new house is fully networked! 11 live 10/100 ports around the house. Activated the TiVO home media option…very cool. Though it will be much cooler when the stereo is all setup again. Listening to my iTunes collection through the TV speakers is a little limiting.

I still have to re-configure my wireless access point, but then I’ll be able official claim to have one of the geekiest homes around.

    Oh, and the DSL is fast. We’re theoretically subscribed to 768k down/128k up, but I ran the speed tests at DSL Reports last night, and was getting about 1100k down/144k up. Whohoo! I had the same service speeds via Verizon at the old house, and never got better than 660-680k down.
