Eye check

I’m going to get my eyes checked at lunch. I’ve never worn glasses, but I’m pretty sure I need them…anything across the room or farther away is getting pretty blurry.

Holy cow, I’m blind as a bat! At least in one eye. I guess part of me realized I really needed glasses for the better part of year, but I kept thinking it wasn’t all that bad…it is! My right eye is 20/200 with astigmatism…my left eye has apparently been carrying me — it’s only 20/30. I can’t wait to get glasses now. I’m sure I’m going to feel a lot better at the end of the work day not struggling with eye strain.

If I could relive my experience putting prescription glasses on for the
first time, I would have filmed it so I could see the look on my face.
I’m sure it was priceless. :-) Maybe Katie could come and film it for
    you?

Nothing could have wiped the smile off my face all the way back to work
and probably for the rest of the day (I walked there from work during
    my lunch break).

    Enjoy. :-)

Well, she’s at least going to be there as a fashion advisor, so I’m
sure we could work something out. ;-)

I had to wait 5 days or so to get my lenses after I picked out the
frames because I had lots of different stuff in my lenses, anti-glare
etc. I definitely recommend anti-glare since you work on computers. I
am VERY sensitive to bright light so I have transition lenses (they
automatically tint in bright light). Oh, and anti-scratch because I’m
    a klutz. :-)

This is the same woman who used to shave words and pictures into your
    head, right?

yea, she’s gotten boring in her old age. she doesn’t even like the
no-mustache amish beard I’m sporting right now. ;-)

Shave a pair of glasses into the back of his head, so people won’t be
able to tell if he’s coming or going.

I ordered glasses last night. Kt was making fun of me for being so excited about it. I got the flex-titanium frames that bend and anti-glare, scratch-resistant coatings. I think I may eventually want the ones that become sunglasses auto-magically, but I’ll wait and see on that.

Please remember to post pictures when she shaves a matching set into the
    back of your head.

My glasses came in this afternoon. It’s really weird! On the one hand, it’s awesome. I can read signs blocks away driving, things across the room are crystal clear. On the other hand, I feel like I’m a drunk a house of mirrors. The astigmatism in my right eye is really bad, and having never worn glasses, it’s going to take a while to adjust. And, in the mean time, my close up vision is really, really skewed and distorted. Oh well…I’m sure it’ll be worth it once I adjust.

I get a minor version of this “weirdness” when I switch from contacts to
    glasses every evening. :-)
