New laptop
After various struggles with my Windows laptop at work, I got approval to order a new one. The need arose for our in-house engineer to have a laptop, so it worked out well and I can give him my old one as a hand-me-down.
I ordered a Dell Inspiron 8600. As much as the IBM ThinkPad T41p was tempting, I couldn’t justify the $1000 premium for a very similar configuration. While Dell doesn’t exactly make the sexiest laptop, they are pretty durable and perform well.
I should see a pretty massive performance improvement over the machine I have, and it’s lighter, smaller and has something I’ve never had in a windows laptop — battery life!
