Mars?
While I’m into the whole space thing conceptually, I must admit it seems pretty pricey to go to Mars…and Mars seems pretty boring from recent pictures. Can’t we just keep sending better and better robots?

At the Zoo
Posted a new movie of the boys, from a zoo trip last Fall. Warning, it’s long (7 minutes) and a big download (30 meg).

Extending TiVo
This could be fun. If only I had more time. Includes a sample Apache module, and sample Perl cgi’s.

RE: Gateway pluses and minuses
Argh. Got back the Gateway today. They didn’t replace the hard drive. How annoying, that’s the big problem. Drives don’t throw new bad sectors every couple of weeks unless they are dying. Oh well, guess I need to get back on the phone.
Update: Gateway is overnighting a new drive.

XServe
I’ve got the ok to buy an XServe at work to become our primary file/print/mail/whatever server. In the end, it works out to be cheaper both now and in the long run than it would be to update our existing aging hardware to Windows Server 2003 and a new mail server. Whohoo! [...]

GarageBand
GarageBand, along with the other iLife app improvements, was the best of the announcements at MacWorld today. I was close to investing in an audio app, but it sounds like this will really do most of what I need.

Gateway pluses and minuses
The Gateway 600 laptop that is my current work machine is a piece of crap. It was a good deal when I got it, and has decent performance, but it’s clunky, noisy and poorly constructed. The plastics near the hinges for the screen developed cracks within months of me getting it, which I [...]

Bad Santa
Kt and I went to see Bad Santa on Saturday at the Movie Tavern.
Bad Santa was wrong, on just about every level, but very funny. Don’t let your kids near this one. Billy Bob was great.
As far as the Movie Tavern goes…this chain remodels closed theaters to serve food/drinks along w/ the shows. [...]

RE: Root canal
Well, the tooth was pretty sensitive to pressure for most of the last week, but seems pretty much fine now. Still don’t recommend the root canal. I’ll be going back in for a permanent crown in a couple of weeks. Joy.

Hopeless Geek
I get so excited about new episodes of the Steve Jobs’ show…it’s silly, but I can’t help myself!
I’m hoping for iLife (iPhoto, iMovie) improvements, a G5 XServe and an audio app. Mini iPods sound cute, but aren’t something I really would want. And, for gosh sake, don’t speed bump the G5s…I don’t want [...]
