Squid
I’ve spent the last two days at work setting up the Squid proxy server on a Rev. A iMac. We’ve had some ongoing problems with bandwidth usage competing with our IP phones in remote locations, so it was time to do something about it.
I’ve put it off for a while, because I’m not a fan of proxy servers in general, but I think this is going to work out nicely…and I’m only going to deploy it on a limited basis for the users who’s downloading needs are the particular problem.
I’m impressed by how much power and flexibility Squid has…and it was really easy to get running on Panther.
