iTunes re-mastering
Inspired by a conversation with Sean this morning, I busted out the old tape deck, and set it up to digify some of my old recordings. These instructions were very helpful, and now I’m cranking out a couple of good sounding re-masters of those old tunes. I’ll post some soon.

I just wanna have something to do
Johnny’s gone now, too. The Ramones were pretty pivotal in my life for a while, around 8th grade. I still rock out them in the car. Sad that they all passed so young. Ok, Tommy’s still around, but I don’t really count their drummers.

All SpamAssassin, All the time!
Finally got work mail switched over to the Xserve, and now all three of the email servers I check mail on have SpamAssassin running ( and are Macs! ). It’s a good feeling to be in better control of my email.
It was a bit tricky to get all the glitches out of Active Directory [...]

Thanks, CDW
I won an online content I entered at CDW…$500 eCard. It was only valid for “security” items, but I got them to apply it to an upgrade to Visual Studio .NET 2003, anyway. Obviously, from my selection, this was tied to our work account, but I’ll take it anyway.

Thunderbird 0.8
Hot dang! Thunderbird 0.8 finally fixes some long standing MAPI issues, which now make it a viable replacement for Outlook for a number of my users at work.

RE: Panther Server mail services and Active Directory
Per my previous post, I’ve been working on getting Active Directory integrated with Panther’s mail services. My prior setup notes work, almost completely…but there’s one hurdle I can’t seem to get past. After puzzling over the exact sequence for awhile, I’ve discovered the problem.
Cyrus won’t let you login until you have received an [...]

Faster DSL
I ordered the upgrade to SBC Yahoo! DSL Pro. It’s not that much more expensive, and offers 3mbps down/416kbps upload speed. The standard service I have now is advertised at 1.5/128 (soon to be 256 up), and I average around 900-1.2 down and 140k upload…so I expect a bit better than that.
The better [...]

Doom 3
I’ve been playing Doom 3 for a couple of weeks now. It is easily the most incredible looking game I’ve ever played. The game engine is incredible. It’s also downright creepy. The use of sound effects and lighting are great, and I literally get the chills while playing it…which is a [...]

I’ve got a lot of family and friends in Florida. They got a pretty good scare and considerable amount of inconvenience from Charley, I hope Frances is kind to them.

Finally, an upgrade-friendly iMac
You can actually get to everything in the new iMac G5. I don’t see video card on that list, but I would assume you could swap it to, since it has an 8x AGP slot.
