Internet Radio via TiVo

Cool TiVo tip from Steve Ivy. I didn’t realize I could do that!

Spread Firefox

Following Seth’s lead I signed up for SpreadFirefox. I strongly advocate switching to this browser on any platform, but especially if you are currently using IE on Windows. You won’t regret making the switch.

Sleepy

Looks like my Sleepy LaBeef Gold Vinyl LP is worth more than I realized. That’s the fun of eBay.

9 years

9 years ago today I married the most beautiful woman in the world. As luck would have it, she’s still there next to me when I wake up in the morning. Still there when I get home from work each day. And, if she’s 1/2 as happy about that as I am, [...]

Annoying updaters

I just ran the 7v3 updater for Filemaker 7 on my Windows laptop. Talk about annoying. This is a minor bug fix version update. Not only did it ask me to produce the original CD and insert it, it also forced me to reboot. There’s no valid reason for either of [...]

eBay’ing the LPs: Jimi, Tom, Big Bill, Lennon and Tom Verlaine

Here’s another batch up for grabs….

4 Jimi Hendrix LPs: I play guitar. I have Jimi records. Not sure what else to say…he’s the man!
3 Tom Waits LPs, Asylum Years: Heartattack and Vine is the best of these. It’s the real transition record for him from the piano bar drunkard to the eclectic [...]

Farenheit 9/11

I watched Farenheit 9/11 last night. While I’m a Bush-hater, I still didn’t much care for the movie. Moore’s got some interesting things to point the finger at, but that’s all he really does. He doesn’t make a case for anything. Just seems like a long list of “things that make [...]

Voted

Went and voted at lunch. Thought I’d just kinda walk in and out with early voting, but there was still about a 20 minute wait…probably just because it was lunch hour. Glad to have it out of the way. I was disappointed by the shear volume of uncontested Republicans on the ballot [...]

eBaying the LPs: Elvis, Woody, Frank, Sleepy and Jesus

Here’s the newest lot of my LPs on eBay:

Elvis Presley: Set of three LPs. A cool picture LP, the Christmas LP with original photo album gatefold sleeve, and Double Trouble — to my mind the finest of his soundtrack albums.
Woody Allen: 2 LP collection of his 60s standup routines. Great fun. Easy [...]

Window Server 2003 version confusion

I’m trying to sort out the licensing and different versions of Windows Server 2003. There are no less than a dozen versions — Web Edition, Standard Edition, Small Business Standard, Small Business Premium, etc., each with a laundry list of different limitations. Why do they make it so annoying to work with them?

Breaking free

Steps toward oil independence. Hopefully we’ll actually take a few.

Userland TLS

Macrobyte has sold their TLS solution for Frontier to Userland. And Seth has disintegrated into a platitute generator in the process.

Wiki

Anyone have any pointers to a good introduction to Wiki. I’ve never participated in a Wiki and have a little trouble grasping exactly how it’s all suppose to work. I have a documentation project coming up that I think a Wiki might be useful for, but I’m not really sure.

Free Showtime

DirecTV has just been nice enough to offer us 4 months of free Showtime (and the 8 or so other related premium channels). This morning I TiVo’d Master of the Flying Guillotine, aka One-Armed Boxer vs. the Flying Guillotine. I know Kt will be dying to watch that with me.

Pocket Motorcycles

Pocket Motorcycles are the most ridiculous looking things I’ve seen in some time. On weekends, a group of enthusiasts meets at a local parking lot and does obstacle course on them and such. They look very uncomfortable to ride, and just plain odd — especially when the riders are full grown man all [...]
