Wiki

Anyone have any pointers to a good introduction to Wiki. I’ve never participated in a Wiki and have a little trouble grasping exactly how it’s all suppose to work. I have a documentation project coming up that I think a Wiki might be useful for, but I’m not really sure.

MoinMoin is probably the most widely-used wiki software. The homepage has a couple of decent introductory links.

Wikipedia is, of course, one of the largest wikis out there, and can provide a pretty good glimpse into the pros and cons.

Generally, I find them useful whenever working collaboratively on documents. The barrier to contribution is low enough that you’re more likely to get input once people get used to it than with mailing Word docs around, for example.
