eBay’ing the LPs: Jimi, Tom, Big Bill, Lennon and Tom Verlaine
Here’s another batch up for grabs….
- 4 Jimi Hendrix LPs: I play guitar. I have Jimi records. Not sure what else to say…he’s the man!
- 3 Tom Waits LPs, Asylum Years: Heartattack and Vine is the best of these. It’s the real transition record for him from the piano bar drunkard to the eclectic poet drunk he would become in the 80s.
- 4 Big Bill Broonzy LPs: Big Bill was a unique acoustic blues performer for his age. Most urbanite sound than many others, very polished and soulful. Closer to Ledbelly in his ability to swing from straight blues to folk ballads than to a Robert Johnson or the like. This is some awesome material that I happened upon all in one batch at a Goodwill store in the early 90s.
- 5 John Lennon LPs: Some of his best 70s solo work. Plastic Ono Band is one of my favorite records ever. Lennon at his most sparse and dramatic.
- 4 Tom Verlaine / Television LPs: One Television LP (the second of their two) and 3 solo efforts by front man Tom Verlaine. Along with Patti Smith and Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Television was one of the seminar bands that defined the NYC punk/pre-new-wave era. Verlaine has always been one of my favorite guitar players, too. Incredibly emotional solos.
