hMailServer + ASSP

Because I wanted to move my mail services over to the new windows box I’m running this site on, I looked around for free solutions and decided on hMailServer with ASSP for spam control. Still training ASSP. Hope it’ll do a good job.

SpamAssassin wasn’t doing too great lately on my old server, but I hadn’t updated to v3, so that’s probably the reason.

Just to follow up on my new email solution, ASSP is great! In fact, since I finished training it, it’s been essentially perfect, not letting any spam through. I’m afraid it’s catching a few false positives, but I’ve been reviewing the classifications it does and can find any.

Because of it’s largely Bayesian approach, I don’t think it would be a suitable solution for a mail server with a lot of users with broader classification requirements, but for a small server with only a couple of users I’d highly recommend it. It’s been rock-solid as well.
