Audacity
Audacity looks like a handy app to have around. And free, too. I often need a simple audio app to edit an MP3 — just to slice off some silence at the end, etc.

Are you winking at me?
I passed two red Volkswagon beetles within about a mile of each other on my way to work this morning. Both had their headlights on, which wasn’t really necessary at the time. The first one had it’s left headlight burnt out. The second one had it’s right headlight burnt out. Hmm.

AJAX
Here’s a little AJAX fun. It uses AJAX-style XMLHttpRequests to load items sequentially from my RSS feed, without reloading the page. Not terribly useful in an of itself. I’m experimenting with the Ajax.NET library for use in a work project.

Our hatred of spam…
I just signed up for a Flickr account. This text during the signup process cracked me up, “Our hatred of spam is difficult to articulate.”

Props
I have great respect for Merle Haggard’s ability to effortlessly rhyme the words “ain’t” and “drink”.

Now I’m dangerous
After cleaning up my desk last night, I decided it was time to hook my Tascam US-428 MIDI/Audio interface back up to the G5. Thanks to GarageRemote I now have it working as a control surface for GarageBand…using the following settings:
Return to start- BF 18 7F F7
Rewind- BF 60 7F F7

Sith, Schmith, or when Stars Wars lost me.
I have no desire to see the new Star Wars movie. This is something of a surprise. I was about as much at the center of the Stars Wars generation as you get. I saw the first movie in the theaters 6 times. I have vivid memories of the disappointment I [...]

Handyman
I replaced the pump and belt in our washing machine last night, after the pump sprung a gasket leaking water all over our utility room over the weekend. What do you know, I’m handier than I realized.

Seth just drew my attention to the fact that this is one of the higher valued blogs at BlogShares. I signed up and claimed my blog. Now I just need to do some trading.

RE: Am I being ignored?
I wonder if I’ll have more luck getting on weblogs.com if my ping passes through Ping-O-matic?

Sooooo wrong
What is soooo wrong?
That I feed my children Burger King kid’s meals? Well, yes, probably.
That Burger King is activity advertising a PG-13 “extremely dark” Star Wars movie to kids under the age of 5? Well, yes, definitely.
But, really, what I’m here to talk about it the toy pictured below that was included in [...]

RE: Server tanked
The problem with my server this weekend is detailed in this KB article, entitled “Error Message: Windows Could Not Start Because the Following File Is Missing or Corrupt: \Winnt\System32\Config\Systemced”. My favorite quote:
The letters “ced” at the end of the error message are not really part of the error message. The previous screen included these [...]

Server tanked
Windows 2000 tanked on my server on Friday. It’s back up and running, but some mail may have been bounced in the process, or possibly accepted but never delivered. If you sent me anything important recently, you might want to resend.

iPhoto Books
I ordered my first iPhoto books for Mother’s Day presents. I made three books, one of Asher, one of Keegan and one of both the boys together. I ordered all three for Kt, and extras of the “twins” book for the grandmom’s. Of course, I was running a little late and didn’t [...]

Franken-Tele
I recently mentioned to my Uncle Robert (aka “Fat Frank” of Fat Frank and the Plank Spankers) that I had been without an electric guitar since selling my ‘71 Tele on eBay. He took responsibility for righting this wrong and shipped me off a gem of a Franken-Tele. It’s a bright red tele [...]
