30 Days

F/X has a great new show, 30 Days, done by Morgan Spurlock — who got acclaim for the documentary Super Size Me last year. I haven’t seen that show, but am really enjoying 30 days. The basic concept is to take one or two individuals and put them in a really alien environment for 30 days and see what happens.

In the episodes I’ve watched so far, a religious, straight midwesterner lived in San Francisco’s Castro district, and a young couple from Chicago moved into an “off-the-grid” communal living farm.

More than just a reality show documenting the 30 days, Spurlock hosts and brings in a great amount of supporting detail about the issues related to the topic. It’s fun and informative. Good stuff, I hope it lasts.
