Sleep Apnea
I spent last night at the local hospital hooked up to many, many wires in order to officially confirm Kt’s diagnosis of sleep apnea. I’ve always been a snorer, but it’s gotten worse in the last year and less manageable via sleep position.
Apparently I was a pretty clear case, since it often takes a full night sleep test to diagnose the problem, and she woke me up after 2 hours and said we’d go ahead and hook me up to the CPAP and test it to get a proper setting so I wouldn’t have to come back again for that.
Various long term side effects of apnea aside, I’ll be glad to get a CPAP and get used to using it just so I get a better night’s sleep. I hardly ever feel rested anymore, even first thing in the morning, and I don’t think I can keep blaming that on the twins–though, for the first couple years of their lives, I think it was their fault ![]()
I’m sure Kt won’t mind me reducing my volume a bit, either.

Kudos on getting tested for apnea. It took me a looooong time to finally go through with it. Here’s my blather on the matter:

Glad to know some people don’t take apnea for granted. Others prefer not to have themselves tested, maybe because they’re scared of what the outcome might be, or they just choose to ignore it.
You’re right, apnea has its long term side effects on our health and treatment is necessary. CPAP is an effective form of treatment and the most popular at the moment. But there are other treatment options as well. Have you tried other options? Because CPAP can be uncomfortable sometimes and some “apneics” prefer BiPAP and other treatment options.
Anyway, you can visit this link. They have write-ups that talks about apnea and its interventions, and other sleep issues.
