Quitting is hard work

I have a good deal of loyalty to my current employer, and I’ve found that quitting is difficult. No, not for the reasons you might think, but simply because I’ve been there so long and do so many things, big and little, there that it’s difficult to get it all cleaned up and ready for someone else to take over.

It’s good in the sense that I’m organizing and putting some finishing touches on various code and systems so that it doesn’t have the rough edges I’ve tolerated because I knew the details of how it worked.

In a way, I feel kinda like the Fonz. I know just where to kick the jukebox to get the free play. I don’t expect to be able to easily teach someone else to do that, so I’ve got to fix the jukebox…if that made any sense.
