I’m way behind on the blog, on a number of counts. But, I thought I’d at least play catchup on the professional situation. I’ve committed the majority of my hours to two ventures. First, I’m contracting back to my former employers for 20 hours a week, primarily to work on developing a new custom project maangement solution using Servoy, integrated with Quickbooks. This solution will replace the FileMaker solution I build for them years ago, but really can’t continue to grow with them. Additionally, I’ll continue to provide support to the new IT team — which hopefully will do pretty well on their own. Since there’s three of them, to replace one of me.
Kidding aside, they are a talented set of guys who I expect will do a lot of good things for the company.
Second, I’ve joined the development team at Clients First Business Solutions, an ERP implementation consulting firm. Clients First evolved from Softideas, the implementers we worked with at ALT on our Axapta implementation in 2000. Luckily, they remembered my contribution making that implemenation the least expensive they’ve ever done and were interested in working with me. I’ll also be committing 20 hours per week to that venture, doing development work in primarily Microsoft technologies, including Axapta/Dynamic AX and .NET/Web/Office development.
So, all told, things are working out great. I’ve got plenty of work, doing almost exclusively development, and gaining the flexibility to work from home and set my hours. Which I’ve been taking advantage of, taking the boys up to “Let’s Jump” this afternoon, driving them to school, etc. Onward!
