Old friend needs help
Internet’s a funny place sometimes. Just checking my digg feed this morning and I see J Robbins’ name. I know J back to high school days. He’s a bass player in the indie band Jawbox, and was once in Government Issue — for those familiar with the DC punk scene. J went to the same half day art magnet school that my sister did back in the mid-80s.
This in and of itself was a coincidence, because I hadn’t really thought of J in years, and just yesterday I was listening to Jawbox’s new release snippets on eMusic…then today I saw that article.
J’s 1 year old had been diagnosed with a degenerate spinal disease. Horrible stuff, and they need donations to help pay the bills. Indie musicians don’t always have the best insurance plans, you know. If you have it in your heart/pocketbook to help out a good guy in need — please donate!
