Character Disorder

I’m hooked on Character Disorder. It’s got that Tetris-like way of nagging me.

Half-Life 2

I finished Half-Life 2 over the weekend. Definitely the best FPS I’ve ever played. And if you have any questions about the physics in the game engine, check this out. It’s not from the game, but it’s built using the add-ons.

Game time

After taking a little time off from my game habit, I’ve finally broken down and bought Half-Life 2. I already know I will love this game. The frustrating part is waiting for 5 CD’s worth of data to install on my machine, and then wait for the Valve “Steam” system to properly log [...]

RE: Doom 3

Finally got around to finishing Doom 3 over the weekend. I wanted to follow up on my earlier comments just to say that the game got much better as it near the end. The actual combat was still not all that interesting, but the visuals kept kicking it up a notch, getting much [...]

Shotgun, Shotgun, Shotgun

Another note for those who may play Doom 3. With the except of the Marine Zombies who are armed with machine guns, I have yet to run into any beast that isn’t best dispatched with the good old shotgun. That is, assuming, you are deft at moving in a FPS game, because you [...]

Doom 3

I’ve been playing Doom 3 for a couple of weeks now. It is easily the most incredible looking game I’ve ever played. The game engine is incredible. It’s also downright creepy. The use of sound effects and lighting are great, and I literally get the chills while playing it…which is a [...]

Unreal Tournament 2004

I’ve been really enjoying the Unreal Tournament 2004 demo. Excellent multi-player action. Onslaught mode is a lot of fun and more purposeful than most multi-player shooters I’ve played. Graphics are stunning…though I turned a lot of the detail off. I’ve got a brand new 1.7 Pentium M laptop with ATI 9600/128 [...]

Doom III slides to 2004

Bummer. Oh, wait…I won’t have time to play it this Fall anyway, we’re moving. I guess I can wait.

Doom III

I like shooting monsters.

I like shooting photo-realistic monsters with cinematic lighting effects even more.

RE: Unreal II, the Awakening

I just finished Unreal II (yes, I’m at work…I play on my lunch hour sometimes!). Great game…visuals are stunning. The game play wasn’t quite as good as Wolfenstein, but it was very good, and the storyline was better. Highly recommended.

Unreal II, the Awakening

I started playing Unreal II last night. Holy cow this game looks good. To a fault, actually, because I’m having to crank down the texture details and turn off all the extra rendering features to get a decent frame rate on a P4-M 1.4Mhz laptop w/ 64 meg ATI 7500 graphics. This [...]
